Hello, this is another site about Jill Smith, the writer of short stories, poetry, tributes and so far, one novel I am planning to have published in 2001. It is called "Divine Encounters".
I have been writing since my first diary, which my Aunt Lil, my father's sister gave me at the hospital, when I was recovering from a concussion, when I was eight years old.
When I was ten, my family moved from Detroit, Michigan, to Los Angeles,Ca. I was 'starstruck" by the glamour of the acting field. I still wrote poetry and on The Steve Allen show, I gave him one of my poems. He thanked me and gave me one of his current albums!
My sister and I shared a studio apartment together, after I graduated from Fairfax High School and I enrolled in the Theatre Department, at Los Angeles City College. I was so niave, but I experienced life without my parents wasn't so great. I moved back home a year later, finishing two years more at LACC, received my AA in Liberal Arts.
In that year, I was in two movies as an extra, where I was able to see my idol, Barbra Streisand, in "Funny Lady", talk to the late Roddy McDowell, the late Burgess Meredith and James Caan! My mother was with me on the first movie set, since we were part of the "congregation". My dreams were beginning to come true!
I started Cal State Northridge that fall, but I felt discouraged there so I left. I was able to become an Area Promoter along with my friends, Peggy and Linda, for "Dolenz, Jones, Boyce and Hart" in 1975 and l976. Peggy, Linda and I lived in Hollywood until the summer of that year, when we moved to Temple City. Linda lost her mom and was unable to handle her passing.
I continued writing, dreaming of the day I would be become published. Well, that day has come!!!
